Hero MotoCorp (HMCL), the leading two-wheeler manufacturer in India, reported a marginal gain of 0.44% in two-wheelers sales to 606,744 units in September 2015. The company had sold 604,052 units in the corresponding month last year.

"Even in the sluggish market condition, the company exceeded the landmark of 6-lakh plus monthly sales in a month," the company said.

The company has crossed the 6 lakh-plus sales milestone on three previous occasions - September 2014 (604,052 units), May 2014 (602,481 units) and October 2013 (625,420 units).

''Hero MotoCorp has consolidated its share in the domestic motorcycle market to 52% and in the 125 cc segment to close to 50%,'' the company claimed. ''It has been an action-packed month of September for Hero. The first global manufacturing facility of Hero MotoCorp, at Villa Rica in Colombia, went on stream in early September.''

Shares of the company gained Rs 17.7, or 0.74%, to settle at Rs 2,413.35. The total volume of shares traded was 46,966 at the BSE (Thursday).
