Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), one of the India's leading infrastructure companies, has bagged an order worth Rs 9.42 billion from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
The company said, "Awarded a BARC contract worth Rs 9.42 billion for constructing the first phase of integrated nuclear recycle plant (INRP)."
The scope of work includes construction of fuel processing plant, lab buildings, disposable material block along with in situ fabricated stainless steel tanks & liners and electromechanical works.
The project is located at coastal town of Tarapur, 130 Kms. north of Mumbai, where BARC has an INRP to process spent fuels from existing nuclear power plants.
The project is part of the first phase of new INRP being built to process spent fuel from upcoming nuclear power plants including Haryana, RAPP 7&8, Kakrapara and future pressurized heavy-water reactors (PHWRs).

The company has constructed 15 out of 24 nuclear reactors in India which is 65% of India’s nuclear power capacity. In addition, the company is currently constructing two more reactors at RAPP, Kota.
Shares of the company gained Rs 0.8, or 3.56%, to trade at Rs 23.25. The total volume of shares traded was 750,005 at the BSE (10.50 a.m., Monday).
