Glenmark Pharmaceutical (Glenmark), a manufacturer of generic formulation products and API, today announced the U.S. market approval and introduction of AshlynaTM (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol) extended-cycle oral contraceptive tablets, the generic equivalent of Seasonique by Teva women's health.

Seasonique is indicated for use by women to prevent pregnancy. According to IMS Health sales data for the 12 month period ending December 2014, the Seasonique market achieved annual sales of approximately USD 159.1 million.

Shares of the company declined Rs 0.25, or 0.03%, to trade at Rs 807.15. The total volume of shares traded was 18,484 at the BSE (10.13 a.m., Wednesday).
