Consumer price inflation in India, as represented by Consumer Price Index (CPI), eased to 4.28% in March from 4.44% in the previous month. In March 2017, CPI inflation was at 3.75%. Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) 2.81% from 3.26% in the previous month. In March 2017, CFPI inflation was at 2.01%.
Food and beverages price inflation stood at 3.01%, while prices of pan, tobacco and intoxicants went up 7.79%.
Clothing and footwear price inflation has recorded a rise of 4.91% in prices.
Fuel and light inflation has seen increase of 5.73%. Household goods and services inflation was 4.30%.
Health segment inflation was 5.16%. Transport and communication gained in inflation of 2.89%.
