Coal India production up 6.90% in FY15, but misses target

Coal India (CIL), an Indian state-controlled coal mining company, achieved 97% of production target set for fiscal 2015. It has recorded a 6.90% growth in coal production during financial year 2014-15. It has produced 494.23 million tonnes of coal in fiscal 2015 against the target of 507 million tonnes. 

CIL has recorded a 3.80% growth in coal offtake during financial year 2014-15. It has sold 494.23 million tonnes in fiscal 2015 that is 94% of the target offtake of 520 million tonnes. 

On the other hand, the company has exceeded production target for the month of March 2015 by 1 percentage point. The company has produced 57.27 million tonnes of coal in March that is 101% of targeted 56.67 million tonnes.

For March, the coal offtake was 47.49 million tonnes against the targeted 50.08 million tonnes. The company achieved 95% of offtake target for the month.

Shares of the company gained Rs 0.45, or 0.12%, to settle at Rs 362.85. The total volume of shares traded was 84,285 at the BSE (Wednesday).
