CG bags Rs 1.19 bn order from NTPC

Avantha Group Company Crompton Greaves (CG) has bagged an order worth Rs 1.19 billion from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

The order comprises 315 MVA 765kV single phase Generator Step-Up (GSU) Transformers, 85 MVA 765 kV Tie Transformers and 80 MVAR Shunt Reactors. The project is scheduled to be completed in thirty-two months. In addition to many orders of Generator Step-Up Transformers (GSU) and Interconnection Transformers (ICT), this order for the highest rating of GSU transformers, puts CG on a strong footing as the strongest player in the UHV segment.

Avantha Group Company CG's CEO and managing director Laurent Demortier, said, ''We are honoured to receive this opportunity from NTPC in fulfilling their strategic vision through advanced T&D systems and smart technology. With our technology driven solutions, India manufacturing base and robust supply chain management, CG is well placed to leverage the growing demand in India and support power utilities in meeting their capacity targets.''

Shares of the company declined Rs 2.05, or 1.18%, to settle at Rs 171.75. The total volume of shares traded was 428,794 at the BSE (Monday).
