ABB, a leading player in power and automation technologies, has won orders worth Rs 1.25 billion from PowerGrid Corporation of India (PGCIL).
This order is for the extension of three substations in Vadodara, Manesar and Malerkotla. This is a part of a larger order (valued Rs 1.75 billion) awarded to ABB group. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2015.
''This GIS solution will help the customer extend substation capacity, within the limited space, considerably more than a traditional air insulated switchgear solution,'' said N Venu, president power systems division, ABB India.
"ABB has been growing with India for over five decades and is well positioned to partnered in improving access to electricity. India's peak demand is only around 60% of its installed generation capacity, so increasing focus on technology adoption and strengthening transmission and distribution infrastructure will significantly improve electricity availability."
Shares of the company gained Rs 15.15, or 1.09%, to trade at Rs 1,410.65. The total volume of shares traded was 4,437 at the BSE (1.09 p.m., Tuesday).
