''With over 60% of businesses now using cloud services, 2014 has been the year of the cloud, with advanced technologies being adopted to suit the ever-changing needs of enterprises. In 2015, the convergence of cloud and mobile computing will continue to promote the development of centrally coordinated applications that enable delivery to any device, according to Srinivasan CR, vice president, Data Center, Growth Ventures, Tata Communications.
''We can expect technology to grow in three broad areas: a) business performance internally b) business performance externally, and in c) the realm of security,'' he added.
''The growth of technology will increase the efficiency of internal operations within businesses, to provide a solid foundation for future advancements; in turn, enhancing business performance by providing valuable information derived from the abundance of data available online. Technology will also affect security, and companies will have to implement frameworks necessary to detect and prevent persistent threats from gaining access to networks.''
''Within businesses, there is a growing demand for data, cloud and both video and mobile solutions, which is forcing the need for stable, reliable communications networks. As applications move to the cloud, the reliability of networks to distribute increasing workload should be ensured. The key objective for 2015 will be to improve on the stability and connectivity of the networks, to get more out of the cloud,'' Srinivasan concluded.
