WPI inflation hits 4-month high at 3.24% in August 2017

Wholesale price inflation (WPI) in India stood at 3.24% in August 2017. WPI inflation was at 1.88% in the previous month and 1.09% during the corresponding month of the previous year.

Primary articles inflation was came at 2.66% in August as compared to 0.46% lower in the previous month. Manufactured products inflation came at 2.45% in August compared to 2.18% in the last month.

Inflation for fuel and power segment came at 9.99% in August as compared to 4.37% for the previous month.

Food inflation came at 5.75% in August against 2.15% in the previous month. Vegetable inflation came at 44.91% in August against 21.95% lower in the last month.

Onion prices inflation came at 88.46% during the month compared with 9.50% lower in the last month. Potato inflation came at negative 43.82% in August compared with 42.45% lower in the last month.

Prices for non-food articles came at negative 3.60% in August compared with 6.32% lower in the last month.

Eggs, meat and fish inflation 3.93% in August compared with 3.30% lower in the previous month.

Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 1.41% compared to a build up rate of 3.25% in the corresponding period of the previous year.
