Consumer price inflation in India, as represented by Consumer Price Index (CPI), increases to 4.87% in May from 4.58% in the previous month. In May 2017, CPI inflation was at 2.18%. Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) 3.10% from 2.80% in the previous month. In May 2017, CFPI inflation was at negative 1.05%.
Food and beverages price inflation stood at 3.37%, while prices of pan, tobacco and intoxicants went up 8.00%.
Clothing and footwear price inflation has recorded a rise of 5.47% in prices.
Fuel and light inflation has seen increase of 5.80%. Household goods and services inflation was 4.97%.
Health segment inflation was 5.84%. Transport and communication gained in inflation of 5.31%.
