Consumer price inflation in India, as represented by Consumer Price Index (CPI), decreased to 3.69% in August from 4.17% in the previous month. In August 2017, CPI inflation was at 3.28%. Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) fell to 0.29% from 1.3% in the previous month. In July 2017, CFPI inflation was at 1.52%.
Food and beverages price inflation stood at 0.85%, while prices of pan, tobacco and intoxicants went up to 5.34%.
Clothing and footwear price inflation has recorded a rise of 4.88% in prices.
Fuel and light inflation has seen increase of 8.47%. Household goods and services inflation was 4.89%.
Health segment inflation was 5.80%. Transport and communication gained in inflation of 6.55%.
