Goldstone Infratech has received its first order for supply of six pure Electric Buses to The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), Mumbai.

BEST is the civic transport and electricity provider public body based in Mumbai. This will be the first time BEST will run Electric buses in Mumbai. The buses will be environment friendly, running fully on batteries and reduce sound & air pollution.

The electric bus will run for 180 km on a single charge. BEST has been fully conscious of the alarming levels of pollution in cities. With modern and reliable technology, BEST has been making constant efforts not only to keep pollution level under control, but minimize it. Electric buses help in promoting public transport by providing superior customer experience with lower noise and zero emission to lower PM 2.5 pollution levels in the cities. In addition, with increasing Suburban Commuter traffic both on Central and Western Railways, these Electric buses, with faster acceleration and braking, shall contribute in a significant way to evacuate this traffic. Electric buses are also a step towards energy security for the country by saving diesel. Keeping these in view, BEST has now decided to introduce pure electric buses.
Goldstone shall be assembling these buses in India in tie up with BYD Auto Industry Co, Ltd, China. The bus body will be fully built in India.

Goldstone and BYO have completed trials of Midi electric bus in Manali-Rohtang pass. This is the first time any Electric bus has been used at that altitude of over 13,000 ft and at such steep gradient anywhere in the world.

Shares of the company gained Rs 2.2, or 9.57%, to trade at Rs 25.20. The total volume of shares traded was 8,195 at the BSE (1.42 p.m., Wednesday).
