State owned Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics (BEL) has achieved the landmark turnover of more than Rs 100 billion (provisional & unaudited) during FY 2017-18, sustaining the double digit growth over the previous year's turnover of Rs 88.25 billion.
Some of the flagship projects executed include Integrated Air Command & Control System (IACCS), Weapon Locating Radar (WLR), Hand Held Thermal Imager (HHTI), Akash Weapon Systems (Army), Naval Fire Control System, Integrated Communication System, 3-D Tactical Control Radar (TCR), Electronic Warfare Systems, L-70 Gun Upgrade, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (WPAT) etc.
BEL's Chairman & Managing Director, M V Gowtama, said, "The focus on Indigenization for Self-reliance had continued with more vigour, besides capacity building, expansion and enhanced outsourcing to SME sector. Also, BEL has been able to maintain good order acquisition this year. These efforts will complement BEL tosustain growth; capitalize future opportunities in defence business and to consolidate market leadership".
Shares of the company gained Rs 2.3, or 1.62%, to trade at Rs 144.35. The total volume of shares traded was 39,478 at the BSE (9.50 a.m., Monday).
