Vijaya Bank, a medium sized public sector lender, today reported a 13.38% higher in net profit at Rs 1.61 billion for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2016 from Rs 1.42 billion in the same period last year on the back of higher provisions for contingencies.
Total income of the bank increased 0.18% to Rs 32.95 billion during the quarter from Rs 32.89 billion in the corresponding period last year.
The bank has made provision of Rs 2.67 billion, which was higher by 82.88% from prior year period to Rs 1.46 billion.
Shares of the company gained Rs 1.4, or 3.37%, to trade at Rs 42.95. The total volume of shares traded was 789,865 at the BSE (2.31 p.m., Friday).
