Indian equities continued to gain for the sixth day on Thursday. At 9.34 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 83.59 points or 0.26% at 32,270 with 23 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 30.75 points or 0.31% at 10,110.05 with 41 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.81%), Axis Bank (1.36%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.33%), Cipla (1.06%), Reliance Industries (0.93%), and Tata Power Company (0.83%).
On the other hand, Wipro (3.85%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.25%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.15%), Hindustan Unilever (0.10%), Infosys (0.06%), and HDFC Bank (0.03%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,021 advances against 345 declines.
Dewan Housing Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 51.99 million. It was followed by Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 50.58 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 48.72 million) and Lupin (Rs. 44.30 million).
The volume chart was led by Himachal Futuristic Communications with trades of over 1.05 million shares. It was followed by Hindustan Construction Company (0.63 million), Jyoti Structures (0.52 million) and Uttam Value Steels (0.38 million).
