Indian markets continued to decline for the second day on Tuesday. At 10.39 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 53.21 points or 0.18% at 29,465.53 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 8.55 points or 0.09% at 9,118.30 with 34 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (4.35%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.04%), Axis Bank (3.01%), Tata Motors (0.92%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.92%), and GAIL (India) (0.80%).
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro (1.09%), ITC (0.90%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.58%), State Bank Of India (0.51%), Coal India (0.39%), and Wipro (0.35%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 828 advances against 1,152 declines.
Reliance Power topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,879.22 million. It was followed by Balkrishna Industries (Rs. 2,794.58 million), Divis Laboratories (Rs. 901.03 million) and Idea Cellular (Rs. 305.74 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Power with trades of over 60.42 million shares. It was followed by Idea Cellular (3.30 million), Uttam Value Steels (2.70 million) and Suzlon Energy (2.40 million).
