Indian equities ended higher on Thursday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 282.48 or 0.78% at 36,548.41 with 17 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 74.90 or 0.68% at 11,023.20 with 25 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (4.42%), Wipro (2.44%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.99%), Larsen & Toubro (1.94%), and State Bank Of India (1.49%).
On the other hand, Infosys (1.95%), Bajaj Auto (1.66%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.40%), Hero Motocorp (1.20%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.14%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,051 advances against 1,318 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,482.87 million. It was followed by Infosys (Rs. 640.74 million), Titan Company (Rs. 536.64 million) and Yes Bank (Rs. 344.60 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 5.11 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (2.31 million), Idea Cellular (1.98 million) and PC Jeweller (1.94 million).
