Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an engineering and construction conglomerate, announced a steady growth in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 2016. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 18.55% to Rs 24,536.40 million from Rs 20,696.40 million in the same quarter previous year.

Revenues for the quarter rose 18.32% to Rs 331,570.40 million, compared with Rs 280,226 million for the prior year period.

Operating margin for the quarter stood at 14.66 percent as compared to 12.83 percent for the previous year period. Operating Income for the quarter was Rs 48,591.70 million, compared with Rs 35953.2 million in the previous year period.

Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 26.17, registering 18.68% growth over previous year period.

The company was successful in garnering fresh orders worth Rs 1368.58 billion at consolidated level during the year ended March 31, 2016. The International orders during the year at Rs 439.56 billion constitute 32% of the order inflow. 62% of the total order inflow during the year was secured by the Infrastructure segment.

The order inflow for the quarter ended March 31, 2016 was at Rs 433.34 billion of which one third constituted international orders.

Consolidated Order Book of the group stood at Rs 2499.49 billion as at March 31, 2016, higher by 7% on a y-o-y basis. International order book constituted 28% of the total order book.

Shares of the company gained Rs 49.9, or 4.02%, to settle at Rs 1,291.30. The total volume of shares traded was 276,007 at the BSE (Wednesday).
