Idea Cellular today reported a better-than-expected growth in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 2015. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 27.83% to Rs 9,308.30 million from Rs 7,282.00 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts, on average, expected the compnay to report a profit of Rs 9.05 billion.
Revenues for the quarter rose 16.37% to Rs 87,983.50 million, compared with Rs 75,610 million for the prior year period.
Operating margin for the quarter stood at 19.46% as compared to 17.85% for the previous year period. Operating income for the quarter was Rs 17,124.80 million, compared with Rs 13493.4 million in the previous year period.
Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 2.58, registering 20.00% growth over previous year period.

Shares of the company declined Rs 1.75, or 0.95%, to settle at Rs 182.30. The total volume of shares traded was 328,027 at the BSE (Tuesday).
