Federal Bank, a private sector lender, today reported a 18.33% higher in net profit at Rs 1.67 billion for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2016 from Rs 1.41 billion in the same period last year on the back of higher provisions for contingencies.
Total income of the bank increased 6.79% to Rs 22.50 billion during the quarter from Rs 21.07 billion in the corresponding period last year.
The bank has made provision of Rs 1.68 billion, which was higher by 9.80% from prior year period to Rs 1.53 billion.
Shares of the company gained Rs 1.7, or 2.79%, to trade at Rs 62.70. The total volume of shares traded was 1,364,180 at the BSE (2.46 p.m., Friday).
