Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) swung to a loss for the quarter ended December 2015. During the quarter, the company reported a loss of Rs 11.02 billion compared with a profit of Rs 2.12 million in the same quarter last year.
Revenues for the quarter declined 14.09% to Rs 53.25 billion, compared with Rs 61.98 billion for the prior year period.
Operating margin for the quarter stood at negative 30.78% as compared to a negative 3.53% for the previous year period. Operating loss for the quarter was Rs 16.39 billion, compared with an operating loss of Rs 2.19 billion in the previous year period.
Earnings per share stood negative at Rs 4.50 compared with Rs 0.87 in same quarter last year.
Earlier in the day, the company bagged an order worth nearly Rs 35 billion for the supply of two 800 MW steam generators with supercritical parameters by NTPC at Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (TnSTPP).
Shares of the company declined Rs 7.7, or 6.01%, to settle at Rs 120.35. The total volume of shares traded was 823,670 at the BSE (Thursday).
