HDFC Bank Q3 net grows 20% to Rs 41.51 bn

HDFC Bank, a leading private sector lender, today reported a growth of 20.11% in net profit for the second quarter of fiscal year 2017. During the quarter, the net profit rose to Rs 46.42 billion as compared to Rs 38.65 billion in the same period last year.

Total income grew 17.84% to Rs 244.50 billion over Rs 207.48 billion in the same period a year ago.

Provisions and contingencies for the quarter ended December 31, 2017 were Rs 13.51 billion as against Rs 7.15 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2016 and Rs 14.76 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2017. Profit before tax for the quarter ended December 31, 2017 was up 20.5% to Rs 70.99 billion.

Shares of the bank gained Rs 19.4, or 1%, to settle at Rs 1,951.20. The total volume of shares traded was 133,493 at the BSE (Friday).
