Axis Bank swung to a loss for the quarter ended March 2017. During the quarter, the bank reported a loss of Rs 21,890 million compared with a profit of Rs 12,250 million in the same quarter last year.

The bank has made provision of Rs 7,1795.3 million, which was higher by 2.78 times from prior year period to Rs 2,5812.5 million.

Shares of the bank gained Rs 21.75, or 4.4%, to trade at Rs 516.30. The total volume of shares traded was 1,441,544 at the BSE (10.45 a.m., Friday).
