Whirlpool Of India announced a substantial rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2014. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 48.42% to Rs 315.40 million from Rs 212.50 million in the same quarter previous year.
Total revenues for the quarter rose 7.23% to Rs 7,214.10 million, compared with Rs 6,728 million for the prior year period.
Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 2.49, registering 49.10% growth over previous year period.
Arvind Uppal, Chairman Whirlpool of India Limited and President Asia Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation said, 'We are pleased with our third quarter results. Improved product, mix and cost productivity helped offset the softness in demand post Diwali. The drop in raw material prices augurs well for the industry and we remain optimistic about the future outlook.'

Shares of the company declined Rs 46.2, or 6.41%, to settle at Rs 674.45. The total volume of shares traded was 150,578 at the BSE (Friday).
