Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), a passenger, commercial and utility vehicles maker, has named its sports utility vehicle (SUV) with project code named U301, as Mahindra TUV300. "Pronounced as TUV, 3 double 'Oh', the 'T' stands for 'TOUGH' and '300' represents the series name," the company said.
The design of Mahindra TUV300 has been inspired by a battle tank. It will be powered by the advanced mHawK engine.
Pawan Goenka, executive director, M&M said, ''In our ongoing automotive journey, we identified a need for a tough, bold and masculine SUV and our customer clinics have confirmed that the TUV300 delivers on these parameters.''
Pravin Shah, president and chief executive (Automotive), M&M said, ''The vehicle will be manufactured at M&M's future ready manufacturing facility at MVML, Chakan in Maharashtra, where again innovative engineering, state of the art technologies and manufacturing excellence are simply par excellence.''
Shares of the company gained Rs 12.95, or 0.98%, to settle at Rs 1,328.25. The total volume of shares traded was 33,449 at the BSE (Thursday).
