Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, has reported an increase of 39% in sales in August 2015. The company sold 11,544 units as against 8,333 units sold in the same period of last year.
Ashok Leyland experienced a rise of 53% in its medium and heavy commercial vehicles products segment to 8,903 units in August 2015. The company had registered sales of 5,832 units in the same period last year.
The company's light commercial vehicle witnessed a slow rise of 6% to 2,641 units in the current month compared to 2,501 units in August 2014.
Shares of the company declined Rs 4.6, or 5.08%, to trade at Rs 85.95. The total volume of shares traded was 2,344,043 at the BSE (2.16 p.m., Tuesday).
Total volume of shares traded on the bourses today was higher by 366.71% to 18,071,599 compared with 22-day average volume of 3,872,150.
